2025-26 ஆம் ஆண்டில் தமிழ்நாட்டின் பொருளாதாரம் 10.83% வளர்ச்சி பெற்றிருந்தாலும், மாநில சொந்த வரி வருவாய் (State Own Tax Revenue - SOTR) வெறும் 6.8% மட்டுமே வளர்ச்சி பெற்றுள்ளது.
SGST வசூல் குறைந்த வளர்ச்சி, GST விகித மாற்றங்கள் மற்றும் வரி இணக்கமின்மை இந்த நிலைக்கு முக்கிய காரணங்களாகக் கூறப்படுகின்றன.
